This month you can get 10% off Washfast acid dyes by just ordering online. That is very close to the discount I can get from PRO Chem with a large order, vendor’s license and proof that I teach dyeing.
*Always order yellow in the next biggest size. You will use more yellow than any other color.
You can make every color you need with these basics. All you need are some recipes:
Click on the photograph to read more about each product. Another great source for recipes are older Rug Hooking Magazine articles. Mary Anne Lincoln wrote many articles using just the basic five colors I have listed above. Those articles were my wool dyeing lessons and created my first inventory of rug hooking wool.
If you are just getting started in dyeing be sure to also order these basics:
*Order the sampler kit if you want the smallest jars you can get. It is a very inexpensive option. It does not include citric acid. Instead it uses Ammonium Sulfate, an alternative to citric acid.
(7) 8 oz. plastic storage bottles sku=SQB.8W/Y, choose 8 oz. size.
(7) Storage caps for 8 oz. bottles sku=CAP.8, choose 8 oz. size.
(3) Tri-pour Safety Beaker 250ml sku=BEA.250, choose 250ml. I like to have a 1000ml. on hand also, but you do not always need it.
Optional: Citric acid (you can use vinegar instead) A 1 lb. bag is plenty to get started.
No expensive dye spoons needed
You will NOT need the expensive dye spoons to measure 1/128th tsp. if you use the instructions in my book and use the 8 oz. bottles above to store your dissolved dye.
