Welcome to Rug Hooking with Cindi Gay
Watch what I am hooking step by step
visit my blog. You will see pictures and hear my thoughts every few
days regarding my current project. On the frame now is a room-sized rug.
That's all I will tell you for now. Visit the log to see what is going on
and leave your comments!
Come to Pemberville and attend a private
workshop!
Attending a rug camp is great fun, but what do
you do if the camp schedule does not match your schedule? When you
are only one of 15 students, how much one on one time do you get with the
teacher? For the same price as most rug camps, you can come when you want
and get all the attention you need.
I am 5 miles south of the I-280 exit on the Ohio turnpike
and only 15 minutes off the Bowling Green exit on I-75. Right at the I- 75
exit is a new Holiday Inn Express. That would be where you stay.
Every day you will commute the 15 minutes on Rte. 105, which is a beautiful
drive through farm land along the Portage River. You will have access to
all the supplies and wool in my studio. My time will be divided between
4-8 students instead of 15 or more. The dye kitchen is always open to
create wool we need and for lessons. Lunch will be provided from the Forks
Restaurant menu. Dinner is on your own. Bowling Green is a small
college town so there is a great variety of places to eat.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in,
would you please
email me with your
thoughts and comments? I will send you more details at that time.

Now Available:
Square Pocketful wool kit
I have assembled a kit for Kim Nixon's footstool pattern,
Square Pocketful using the same wools I used to hook it. The most
important wools are an exact match, a few are close substitutes. Some of
the wools are no longer available.
Each motif is diagrammed out and all you have to do is
follow the written instructions to complete a close duplicate of my footstool.
I even tell you what stain I used to finish the feet.
These kits will be available only
while supplies last. Please email me for more information and
availability.
$220 plus shipping. Price
reduce because the quantity of wool was reduced. Order footstool guts and
pattern from Kim at
www.undertherug.com.
Available while supplies last. |

I
miss you, Sam
We lost Samson over Labor Day weekend. He had been sick for some time and
died peacefully in his sleep.
Just Finished: Annie's
Scroll Stair riser

This is the
second in the Stair Riser series. Pattern will be available from
Spruce Ridge
Studios in June 2007.

Here's what the stair risers look
like installed.
Queen Anne Rose is the top stair
riser and is also available from Spruce Ridge Studios. |

Just Finished: Annie's Flower Power

I designed this footstool in the car during my trip to and from Cedar Lakes Rug
Camp in West Virginia. My husband drives me to that camp, so I had time to
doodle. It has hooked up extremely fast and I am anxious to finish it.
This footstool is designed to be a companion to the Square Pocketful footstool I
completed last year, see the finished footstool below.
The footstool pattern will be available from Kim Nixon at
www.undertherug.com.
A companion rug pattern is offered at

On the frame now:
Stingray
This
project began as I toured the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, TN on my way
home from a rug camp. I was fascinated by the rippling design as a leopard
stingray flittered from one end of the water to the other. I did not get a
good photo until it settled under the shadow of surrounding vegetation.
Once home, I cropped and enlarged the photo using the technique described in the
Rug e-School,
Enlarging patterns at Home.
I am using my Antique
Background wool for the dark and a collection of soft greens and blues for
the light. These blues and greens are my daughter's favorite colors and
were a perfect choice for this piece. The subject matter fits also because
Jenny is a high school biology/chemistry teacher.

Looking for a teacher in your area? First visit
www.mcgownguild.com.
Click on teachers to see a listing by state of certified teachers. Join
the McGown Guild or ATHA and ask for a listing of hookers in your area.
Contact a few people on the list to find out where they take classes. Read
the advertisements and classifieds in Rug Hooking Magazine. Look
for groups, camps or shops in your area. The contact person will probably
know most of the teachers in the general area.
Thanks to all
who let me know about the problems with links on my website. I do my own
website and would rather spend my free time hooking than testing the website.

My Mission Statement
This web site is dedicated to the beginning rug hooker. When I
started hooking I was frustrated by the lack of real down-to-earth information.
The Rug e-School's instructions are inspired by the questions my students ask.
You can help by sending your questions.
Click here to send me an e-mail. Please note that I am often out of
town for a week or two at a time.
Previous home pages often become
new entries on the Rug e-School page.
Please
let me know if you see any errors in my
web pages, such as spelling or something not working. It takes many, many
hours to maintain this site and I often don't spend as much time as I should
proofreading.
