Day 659 Holidays Plugged, Border Decisions….

day-659-holidays-plugged

I finally got some time to work on my room-sized rug. Thank you to everyone who has checked back frequently for updates. My schedule is much clearer for the next few weeks and I should be able to make some progress. I will have to take a break to finish the “Woman with Baby” and “Jackson as a Puppy” pieces because I want to take them to Sauder. I have to have something to show for the year.

I worked on drawing a preliminary design on the backing in May at the Cedar Lakes Rug Camp. I wasn’t convinced it was the best design for this rug. After having it on the floor all morning, I am going to rethink it. I’ll keep you posted.

This rug just takes my breath away. I saw it in person in Manistee last year and absolutely loved it. Keep at it–it is a treasure that your family will enjoy for generations.

cindy, Im getting ready to hook a 5 by 12 foot. I was wondering what kind of hooking frame you hooked your rug on. Do you need any special frame to hold your rug on. Thanks for posting your rug for all of us

I hook on a regular Puritan frame with a floor stand – Not the floor stand they sell with the frame. I use my collapsible frame. For this rug, I had to take a half sheet of plywood and screw it from the bottom into the feet of the stand. Since I did that, the frame has not fallen over. The biggest problem at this point is moving it from one area to another.

The rest of the rug just puddles on the floor. My animals have great fun. They sleep on top and underneath. It’s like the tents we used to make when we were kids.
